Jason Chapman
Jason Chapman's wonderful educational illustrations can be seen
around the world having produced numerous images for exhibitions
including Singapore Science centre, Chicago Field Museum, and Natural
History Museum.
Most recently he was commissioned by O'Leary Prescott design partnership
to produce large scale interpretation panels for 'Living Coasts',
a £7m educational and scientific coastal conservation centre overlooking
Torbay harbour attracting some 300,000 visitors annually.
Jason's illustrations, some blown up to 2.5m onto interior and
exterior laminated panels depict subjects such as 'Hunted to extinction
- The great Auk', 'Moon Power' and 'Life on the edge around the
world'.
'Coral reefs - jewels of tropical seas' is a hugely colourful coral-inspired
2.5m square 'snakes and ladders' game printed onto 'Dalsouple' rubber
panels and bonded to the gallery floor for children (and adults)
to play. The dice are 12" square!
Another recent project is 3Rs for 4Rs - a Primary teaching pack
for Key Stages 1 and 2 produced for Battersea Dogs Home. Fully illustrated
throughout by Jason, the pack includes 22 activity sheets and 2
full colour A1 posters illustrating the 'Journey of a cat and dog
through Battersea Dogs Home' and 'Inside Battersea Dogs Home' -
a fun and gloriously detailed cut-away illustration showing the
workings of the home.
As Battersea Dogs & Cats Home's official illustrator Jason
produces imagery for much of their educational and communication
graphics collaborating with design agencies Imagination GIC, The
Broadbent Consultancy and Savvy design.
BBC books appointed Jason to illustrate Adam Hart-Davis' 'Local
Heroes DIY Science' and Handy Andy's Home Work book.
Jason's work can also be seen on high quality greeting cards having
received commissions from Gibsons Greetings (Part of UK Greetings
group).
Jason Chapman is an illustrator with considerable experience working
traditionally as well as digitally, presenting information often
aimed at children but also appealing greatly to adults in a clear,
humerous and often quirky illustration style.
Following correspondence with several children's book publishers
Jason is developing story ideas and artwork and hopes to have success
in this field very soon. Keep an eye out!
